Manama: Bahrain is on track to develop its oil and gas sectors, alongside efforts to diversify sources of revenue, said the Premier yesterday.

He underlined national programmes and strategies to spur economic growth through sustainable and flexible policies to withstand different challenges. 

“Bahrain has adopted diverse strategies to develop the sectors of oil and gas and their complementary industries that represent the cornerstone of economic sustainability,” he said.

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa was speaking as he received Oil Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed Alzayani.

The Premier hailed pre-emptive steps which enabled Bahrain to contain Covid-19 and protect society from its pitfalls. He stressed the need to provide all support to frontline medical teams which make sacrifices that enable Bahrain to succeed. 

He paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad and hailed the efforts of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.

He urged full compliance with precautionary measures, as the world inches towards reopening. 

“Our steps have to be well-calculated and more careful for Bahrain to continue its successful fight against the pandemic,” the Premier said, stressing the need to keep abreast of Covid-19’s global economic impact when drawing up current and future plans.

He hailed efforts to monitor prices of basic commodities, ensure safety of food stocks and its sufficiency and maintain market stability, in co-operation with the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He stressed the pandemic’s fallout on Bahrain’s exports and imports, underlining the government’s efforts to continue the flow of goods and maintain market and price stability.

He highlighted measures to support traders and businessmen to withstand challenges and spearhead development.
