A string of steps have been announced recently as part of wider precautionary measures to curb the spread of coronavirus infections.

Starting from today (February 7) till February 20, only Kuwaiti citizens will be allowed to fly from Dubai to Kuwait, while travel from the UAE to Denmark is set to resume, according to the latest advisories.

“Customers holding tickets with Kuwait as a final destination will not be accepted for travel at their point of origin. Exemptions are first-degree relatives of Kuwaitis, domestic workers travelling with Kuwaiti sponsors and domestic workers registered on Belsalamah platform,” Emirates airline said.

In a separate announcement, the UAE’s embassy in Denmark confirmed that the suspension on flights arriving from the UAE is to be lifted effective February 7. However, travellers should not test positive for coronavirus within 24 hours prior to departure.

“All passengers must present a negative COVID-19 test no older than 24 hours before boarding a flight to Denmark. Upon arrival, they are required to be tested and subsequently isolated for 10 days. The new rules will take effect from February 7 to February 28, 2021,” the embassy said on Twitter.

Emirates advisory

Emirates airline also advised travellers bound for Saudi Arabia that non-Saudi nationals will not be allowed to board flights from Dubai until further notice.

Diplomatic passport holders and health practitioners and their families are exempted from the new restriction.

Travel woes

Emirates was among the first airlines in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region to restart international operations in the middle of last year.

Early last month, the long-haul operator suspended services to Hong Kong for two weeks following a directive from the Asian state.

It later suspended flights to all UK points following a travel ban imposed by the British government. It had also previously suspended flights to South Africa until February 4.
