KUWAIT - Newly-fitted gas turbines at Subiya Power Plant will raise electricity provided to the country by 932 megawatts, the Minister of Electricity and Water said on Wednesday.

The increase will see the country generate a total 18,470 megawatts of electricity, Mashan Al-Otaibi, also Minister of Social Affairs, Labour and Social Development, said at the project's launch.

The move was taken ahead of the hot summer months, when consumption typically rises to highs averaging around 15,677, the minister added. (end) msa.sd
