Dubai – Mubasher: The number of German tourists who visited the emirate of Dubai during the first five months of 2019 reached 291,000, rising 5% year-on-year from 278,000 people.

German visitors to the GCC emirate during the five-month period ended 31 May 2019 accounted for 4.06% of total visitors of 7.16 million people, according to data by the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).

German tourists come in second place among the most European visitors to Dubai after the British arrivals.

Experts told Mubasher that German investments within the emirate and the UAE in general are a major factor in attracting German tourists.

It is worth noting that the non-oil trade exchange between the UAE and Germany jumped by 63% in 2018 to AED 48.8 billion from AED 30.8 billion, according to a report released by the Ministry of Economy.

Niveen Ezzat, a tourism expert, said that the new attractive hotspots in Dubai, including Burj Khalifa and Palm Islands, play a vital role in luring tourists.

Moreover, the availability of flight offers provided by Emirates or Etihad Airways also help in attracting tourists to the UAE, Ezzat added.

Dubai aims to achieve its main tourism strategy to attract around 20 million visitors a year by 2020.
