Cairo –  Egypt’s gas production is expected to reach 7.8 billion cubic feet per day (BCFPD) by the end of the fiscal year 2019/2020, Egypt's finance minister Mohamed Maait stated on Thursday, on the sidelines of the Egypt Petroleum Show (EGYPS 2020).

The North African country’s gas output rose to 7.2 BCFPD in January 2020, from 4 BCFPD in FY15/16, Maait added.

The minister noted that offshore drilling discovered more gas deposits which may lead to a surge in Egypt’s reserves.

EGYPS 2020 is held on 11-13 February at the Egypt International Exhibition Center. The three-day event is expected to attract 30,000 visitors, 1,600 delegates, 270 speakers, and 450 exhibitors.
