Dubai to host 8th Edition of International Congress of the International Society for the History of Islamic Medicine

DUBAI, 26th April, 2017 (WAM) -- INDEX Conferences & Exhibitions, a member of INDEX Holding, has signed a cooperation agreement with International Society for the History of Islamic Medicine to host the 8th Edition of International Congress of the International Society for the History of Islamic Medicine in Dubai from 26th 28th February 2018 at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre. The agreement was signed by Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Chairman of INDEX Holding, and Prof. Dr. Faisal Al Nasir, Secretary-General and Treasurer of the society. According to the agreement, INDEX will organise the congress and invite a number of official speakers, and the event is expected to attract more than 1,000 professionals from the region and the world.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, said, "Dubai has the logistics, infrastructure and the ability to host the most important events and international conferences. We are pleased to cooperate with the International Society for the History of Islamic Medicine to organise the 8th edition of the International Congress of the International Society for the History of Islamic Medicine, because of its great importance in preserving the history of Islamic medicine and creating awareness of early inventions and important discoveries and achievements made by Muslim doctors and Arab scientists in this field. We welcome all doctors and professionals who are interested in submitting their abstracts and research papers to be part of this important event."Dr. Faisal Al Nasir said that International Society for the History of Islamic Medicine brings together physicians, scholars, and historians from a number of Islamic and Arab countries and Muslim scholars from Europe and the USA. The society has more than 250 members from all around the world, and it organises its biennial international conference every time in a different country. The 7th edition took place in Fez in Morocco where the UAE was chosen to host the 8th edition.

The 2018 event will be held under the theme, "Teaching of Medical Sciences during the Islamic and Medieval Ages", and the conference will discuss topics such as the Important Discoveries of Famous Islamic Physicians and Scientists, History of Medications and Therapies in Islamic world, History of Medical Education, The Virtual Library of Islamic Medical Heritage, and the History of Veterinary medicine, amongst others.
