DUBAI- Dubai Land Department, DLD, has announced that its smart platform, Real Estate Self Transaction (REST) is nominated for the World Summit on the Information Society, WSIS, awards 2019, where voting will continue until 10th February.

The eighth WSIS will be held from 8 – 12 April 2019 in Geneva, Switzerland where 300 Arab and international delegations, including heads of state and high-level representatives, are expected to participate.

WSIS is an annual international award that is organised for countries around the world to compete across 18 categories with more than 1,000 projects worldwide being submitted for a chance to be nominated. REST, which was introduced in May 2018, enables the complete digital management of real estate transactions, eliminating paper documents and reducing brokerage procedures.

Commenting on the nomination, Sultan Butti bin Mejren, Director-General of DLD, said, "We are always seeking to strengthen DLD’s position to deliver the highest level of global service, register global excellence in the field of real estate registration, and employ technology to serve the local and global markets." "We hope that Dubai REST will win the award in this global event, especially as it is an unprecedented achievement in terms of the services it provides to investors in the real estate sector."

DLD climbed three ranks to seventh place internationally in real estate registration according to the Doing Business Index due to DLD’s implementation of blockchain and artificial intelligence in its main and joint services by applying digital contracts and big-data technology.
