The Bank of Italy plans to introduce for banks operating in the country a capital requirement to address systemic risk, it said on its website.

The systemic risk buffer would amount to 0.5% of relevant exposure by the end of this year, with another 0.5% to be added by June 30, 2025, it said.

The Bank of Italy late on Friday said it was launching a conversation on the plan.
