Muscat – The ninth session of the Omani-Kuwaiti Joint Committee was held under the chairmanship of H E Sayyid Badr Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, and Sheikh Salim Abdullah Jabir al Sabah, Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Muscat on Sunday.

In his speech, H E Sayyid Badr said that relations between Oman and Kuwait are distinguished and advanced. He underscored the keenness of the two countries’ leaderships to continue developing these relations in diplomatic, economic, cultural, tourism and scientific fields. In addition, the two leaderships, he said, are keen to enhance technical cooperation and exchange experiences and expertise in an effort to hone human resources skills to keep pace with advanced technologies and best practices.

On his turn, Sheikh Salim affirmed the importance of the committee’s actions in enhancing bilateral cooperation in economic, cultural, scientific, arts and educational fields, as well as promoting investment opportunities.

Sheikh Salim told ONA that during his visit, several agreements will be inked with the prime objective of pushing the bilateral relations between Oman and Kuwait further. He called upon investors and Kuwait’s private sector to invest in the lucrative investment opportunities available in Oman.

The Omani-Kuwaiti Committee was established in 2003 to boost cooperation and coordination in various fields. The committee’s agenda includes discussing a range of topics, especially in economic, business, cultural, educational, scientific and technical fields.

The session was attended from the Omani side by Khalid Hashil al Muselhi, Head of the Minister’s Office Department, Sheikh Ahmed Hashil al Maskari, Head of the GCC Department, Yousef Said al Amri, Head of the Arab Cooperation Department, and H E Dr Saleh Amir al Kharousi, Ambassador of Oman to Kuwait.

Session of talks

H E Sayyid Badr and his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Sabah also held an official session of talks at the Foreign Ministry on Sunday.

The session dealt with the distinguished relations binding the two countries and means of promoting these to serve the joint interests.

During the talks, the two ministers exchanged views on several regional and global issues of common concern.
