The National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) said that the inflation rate in the Sultanate of Oman for December 2022 amounted to an increase of 2%, compared to the same month in 2021.

Al Buraimi Governorate recorded the highest inflation rate among the Sultanate’s governorates at 3.3%, while the Governorates of Dhofar, North and South Al Sharqiyah recorded the lowest inflation rate at 1.7%.

Among the most prominent indicators of inflation in December 2022 were oils and fats, which recorded the highest inflation rate among food commodities at 19.5%, then meat at 8.4%, followed by milk, cheese and eggs at 7.7%, and finally fruits, which recorded the lowest inflation rate by 6.5%.

2022 was not a great year for majority of the world's economies. People are being highly affected from the inflation rates that the globally. In the United States of America and the European Union, inflation rates approached 10%.
