CAIRO: The Arab League have condemned on Wednesday the Israeli police storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem's Old City and attacking Muslim worshippers, and detaining around 400 Palestinians.

Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmad Abu Al-Ghait said in a statement issued by the Arab League that these irresponsible actions in the holy places affect millions of Muslims around the world, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

Abu Al-Ghait called on international community represented by the member states of the Security Council, to move quickly in order to push the Israeli forces to stop escalation, which threatens to ignite the situation in Palestinian territories.

In addition, he also called on the Israeli government to respect the sanctity of the holy month and stop the provocative actions that would fuel anger.

The extremist tendencies that control the policy of the Israeli government will lead to widespread confrontations with the Palestinians.
