Malaysia's exports fell 13.7% in September, slower than expected, government data showed on Thursday.

September's exports had been expected to decline 16.5%, according to 17 economists surveyed by Reuters.

Imports in September fell 11.1% from a year earlier, data from the trade ministry showed. Analysts were expecting a 12.2% decline.

Malaysia recorded a trade surplus of 24.52 billion ringgit ($5.15 billion) in September. ($1 = 4.7600 ringgit) (Reporting by Danial Azhar)
