AMMAN - The Central Bank of Jordan on Tuesday decided to increase the number of companies included in its JD500-million programme to support small- and medium-sized enterprises, which aims at alleviating the repercussions of the coronavirus on the economy.
Under the decision, companies with a maximum of 200 employees, up from 100, whose assets or sales total JD5 million, up from JD3 million under the previous decision, will be included in the programme, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
According to the bank, the decision is expected to provide sufficient funds for more companies whose operations were impacted as a result of the coronavirus crisis, thus protecting the companies’ employees.
