Muscat: For the first time in the Middle East, floating desalination plants are installed in the Sultanate of Oman.

Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company, (Nama), announced the activation of floating and mobile water desalination plants in the Musandam Governorate for the first time in the Sultanate of Oman and the Middle East.

The company has published that one of the most important features of the floating desalination plants is that it is the first of its kind in the Arab world and carries out desalination, transportation and distribution operations.

It also works with the best international technologies in reverse osmosis and the number of marine villages benefiting from the service is (70) villages.

The company indicated that the in-country value added from the floating desalination plants is; Employing the traditional craft industry in water projects and encouraging investment in the country to develop the water organization, support small and medium projects, in addition to supporting commercial, tourism and fish activities with marine sophistication
