Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT), represented by the Directorate-General of Ports, has granted six licenses to five companies to manage and operate berths used for tourism and commercial purposes.

According to the ministry, these firms have fulfilled the requirements and provisions of the marine berths’ management and operation.

The licenses granted to the companies include 4 tourism licenses granted to each of: Al Marsa Travel and Tourism Company in the Wilayat of Dibba in Musandam Governorate, with a berth length of 250 meters, Saraya Bandar Al Jissah Company (Muscat Bay) in Muscat Governorate, with a length of 105 meters, Muriya Tourism Development Company” (Jabal Al Sifah) in Muscat Governorate, with a length of 864 meters, and “Muriya Tourism Development Company” (Hawana Salalah) in Dhofar Governorate, with a length of berths of 482 meters. .

The Ministry also granted two licenses to manage and operate marine berths outside the ports for commercial purpose to two companies, which are : the Oman LNG Company in the Wilayat of Sur, with a length of 150 meters, and the “Shorooq Marine Handling and Navigation Company” in the Wilayat of Sur, in the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah, with a length of 305 meters.

“We aim at supporting the ports sector, maritime transport and the logistics system, and enriching the tourism, commercial and industrial sectors in the Sultanate of Oman”, the ministry stated.

The Ministry called on local and international companies and investors specialized in the development, management and operation of ports and berths to review the investment opportunities announced by the Ministry through various media and the regulations governing this vital field.
