UAE-based developer Arada announced on Wednesday the award of two contracts worth a combined 118 million UAE dirhams ($32 million) at Masaar, its 8-billion-dirham ($2.3 billion) megaproject located in Sharjah's Suyoh district.
Masaar encompasses eight gated districts containing 4,000 villas and townhouses and a 'green spine' containing 50,000 trees.
Arada said in a press statement that two contracts, awarded to Sharjah-based companies, cover infrastructure and landscaping works at the central precinct and the buffer zone that runs around the edge of the community.
The developer awarded a 75-million-dirham ($20 million) infrastructure works contract to Al Marwan General Contracting Company, and a 43 million ($12 million) contract for landscape works to Al Qalamoon Garden Designers.
The statement said work by both contractors on the central precinct is scheduled to be completed at the end of April and on the buffer zone by the end of September.
The awards are the latest in a series of contract awards for Masaar, including the contracts to build the Masaar Experience Centre and the show villa, the infrastructure design contract, and the design and supervision services contract for Sendian District, the first residential phase of Masaar.
The statement added that the main construction contract for Sendian District would be awarded in March.
