Nixu Software Launches World's First DNS Software Appliance
Nixu Secure Name Server (SNS) is a new breed of DNS software appliances based on Nixu Software's patent-pending method for securing DNS appliances. It is the first DNS server in the world to incorporate Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) on hardened Linux O/S, protecting organizations from common DNS security threats such as Denial of Service attacks, port scans, and DNS cache poisoning attempts. Being a software appliance, Nixu SNS will be sold as affordable annual subscriptions at USD 495 / server / year including maintenance and support - much like commercial open source operating systems.
Nixu SNS: Based on Open Source Software
Nixu SNS comprises of several open source software (OSS) modules (e.g. CentOS, PSAD, Bastille, PHP, Apache, BIND) and proprietary code by Nixu Software used for integration. By using OSS modules in the implementation, Nixu Software has been able speed up the product development process significantly. The savings will be passed on to users.

Being a software appliance, it can be run on existing or new general purpose servers, virtual servers, or blades. Nixu SNS installs on all the same platforms as Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
