Dubai – Specially-abled Emirati athlete, Hamda AlHosani, has long been a champion in the local sports scene as well as the international, encouraging people of determination to believe in themselves and embrace sports. The local heroine, Hamda has given so much to her community, winning 17 Special Olympic medals and challenging misconceptions surrounding those with disabilities.
Gatorade® ,PepsiCo’s sports drink, and Expo 2020 Dubai wanted to hold up a mirror and show Hamda the hero within, celebrating all she has done for the UAE. Gatorade® had just the man for the job: 11-time world champion, holder of 8 Olympic gold medals and Hamda’s personal hero and source of inspiration, Usain Bolt.
Gatorade® asked Hamda to record a video message to Usain, telling him why she sees him as a source of inspiration. Little did she know, he was listening to her the whole time. The two inspirational athletes met over a video call, where Usain invited Hamda to run alongside him during a “Run the World” event at Expo 2020 Dubai.
Meeting in-person for the first time at Expo 2020 Dubai, Hamda and Usain headlined the run, raising funds for Al Noor Rehabilitation & Welfare Association for People of Determination to support their rehabilitation and training programs to build a brighter future.
Gatorade® is committed to supporting the next generations of athletes on their path to greatness and by introducing its global ambassador, Usain, to Hamda, the brand hopes to create moments of joy that ripple out and inspire everyone who leads an active lifestyle to achieve their own goals.
