Dubai, UAE: Schneider Electric has appointed Walid Sheta as the company’s President for the Middle East and Africa. Walid Sheta, who has been with Schneider Electric for 26 years and whose last role was Cluster President for North East Africa and the Levant, will lead the company’s operations throughout the Middle East and Africa. Beginning from November 1st, Walid’s focus will include driving support for national and organizational sustainability initiatives across the region, as well as helping customers with their digital transformation plans.

Walid’s career at Schneider Electric has included various leadership roles, including Country President Nigeria, Business Development VP for Africa, and Strategic Account Executive for key energy accounts. From 2017 Walid has managed the company’s operations in the North East Africa and the Levant, where he has been able to achieve sustained growth and a comprehensive business transformation of the region whilst also securing some of the company’s largest projects.

Walid takes over from Caspar Herzberg, who is joining industrial software leader AVEVA as its Chief Revenue Officer.

“Walid is a proven business leader who has shown time and time again his ability to deliver business results whilst also developing and helping his teams and regions to skill up and grow,” said Luc Remont, Executive Vice-President International Operations. “I’m confident that he will do the same in this new role, and that he’ll take our Middle East and Africa performance to the next level with an increased focus on big issues that our customers care about such as sustainability, energy efficiency and performance as well as digital transformation. I also want to thank Caspar for his leadership over the past five years, and I would like to wish him all the best at AVEVA.”

Alexandria-born Sheta graduated from the Institute National des Sciences Appliquées de Toulouse – INSA Toulouse, France (the National Institute of Applied Sciences in France), with a major in industrial automated solutions.

“The region’s potential for growth is immense and I’m excited about the opportunities for helping our customers with issues such as their net zero strategy and organizational productivity,” added Sheta. “There’s other issues that we’re addressing, such as the need to provide clean, green energy for the hundreds of millions of people in the region who don’t have access to affordable, secure and reliable energy. I’m optimistic that the region’s future will be greener and more sustainable, and Schneider Electric will play a major part in making that happen.”
