Wafi Mall celebrated the conclusion of their highly successful photography competition on Sunday at a prize giving ceremony where the winners and runners up were congratulated for their efforts. The competition which was sponsored by Salam and entitled Old Dubai New Dubai was part of Wafi's highly successful Timeless Dubai exhibition which celebrated the heritage of the United Arab Emirates.
The public were invited to send in their entries capturing images of Dubai past and present, making it accessible to both amateur and professional photographers across the region. A panel of judges, including professional photographers was enlisted to evaluate the photographs which were judged on creativity, technical ability and composition.
Two winners were announced at the ceremony; Haider Yousuf, a student won first place in the Old Dubai category whilst Lisandro Mendoza an architect came first in the New Dubai group. Both were presented with a prize of a Pentax SLR Digital Camera.
"Photography is something that everyone can participate in. Whether you're a professional or just starting out we wanted to host a competition that everyone could have a go at. The judges were very impressed with the level of quality and we were delighted to receive in excess of 200 entries", said Jocelyn McBride, Marketing Manager Wafi City Mall.
The competition entries were exhibited around the mall enabling the public to view the photographs and enjoy the home grown talent.

The judging panel included Bassam Abu Issa, Executive Director, Salam Group, Oz Newcombe, professional Photographer, Jassim Al Awadi, Chairman UAE Photo Club, Bader Abbas, Retired Colonel/Photographer, Jocelyn Mcbride, Marketing Manager, Wafi Mall, Hasan Sultan, Group Business Development Manager, Salam Group.
