Abu Dhabi, December 12, 2012: Trinity Doors, a leading manufacturer of specialty doors in the UAE, showcased its range of certified fire and blast resistant doors on the sideline of the 'Safety Design in Buildings' conference held at Armed Forces Officers Club, in Abu Dhabi, on December 12, 2012.
In the wake of increased fire and safety accidents in the UAE, the conference provided a platform for engineers, manufacturers, fire consultants, architects, regulators and related professionals of the construction and contracting industry to debate issues surrounding fire safety strategies, building codes and standards.
Talking about the importance of adherence to building codes and standards, Mr. Allan Comello, Executive Director of Trinity Doors said: "Fire and life safety items installed or constructed in buildings ensure adequate levels of safety and protection from untoward incidences. Fire resistant doors and passive fire protection to structures are integral to building and life safety. Fire resistant materials are a mandatory requirement in high rise buildings, commercial buildings and manufacturing facilities among others. They allow occupants to safely exit the building and protect the assets while firefighters work to put out the flames during an emergency."
The most important part of preservation of life in the time of fire is providing a safe path of egress by the use of certified material in the right application, which includes but is not limited to, fire rated corridors, pressurized stairways and certified fire doors, to name a few. Appropriate measures taken by the local authority need to be a mandate in maintaining the chain of custody, right from the source to agent, manufacturer, installer, contractor to the facilities manager of these products. Most importantly, the periodical maintenance of the fire safety products installed form an integral
part in ensuring safety.
