Toastmasters Annual Conference 2006 to be held in Dubai

Two-day gala public speaking extravaganza to be held at the JW Marriott. 800 Toastmasters to attend.

Dubai, 10^th May 2006: Over 800 Toastmasters from across the GCC and Jordan will convene in Dubai on the 11^th and 12^th of May for the District 79 Toastmasters Annual Conference (DTAC) at the JW Marriott Hotel. Toastmasters International is an 80 year old Organization headquartered in the USA, spread across 90 countries with over 250,000 members. This non-profit movement is devoted to making Effective Communication a worldwide reality. In the Gulf, Toastmasters have been active for over 40 years, with a current membership of over 3000.

Held annually in rotation within GCC and Jordan, countries that form the Toastmasters District 79, DTAC 2006 is a mega event. Addressing the media, the Conference Chairman R.K.Nair said that the two-day event is expected to attract an audience three times larger than previous Conferences.

The Conference would feature contests in three different categories - International, Humorous and Table Topics. The Contestants represented here have gone through three stages of elimination rounds. The winner of the International contest would represent the District at the World Championship in Washington, USA, in August 2006.

According to Chairman R.K.Nair, the other eagerly awaited sessions are the two Key note addresses by established author Patricia L. Fry and work shop leader and humorist Ross Mackay. The sessions would educate the delegates on "How to present a more creative speech", and entertain with "Humour is no laughing matter'. In addition, eleven educational / training sessions will add value to the audience. For the first time, the Conference would also feature a contest for Gavelliers (Children between 11-18 years)

The Conference, hosted by the UAE Toastmasters is supported by Western Union, ABN Amro Bank, Air BP, NMC Group, Emarat, Empower, Alukkas, ETA Group, Coop Islami, Group, Al Madani Group, Rainbow Milk and Lipton.

The conference is open to all. Toastmasters and Guests alike will get a chance to be educated, entertained and inspired.
