Abu Dhabi: 27th June 2012 - The JV of Tav Construction (TAV), Consolidated Contractors International Co. (CCC) and Arabtec Construction LLC (Arabtec), an equal partnership, has signed a contract with Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) to carry out the works on the Midfield Terminal Building (MTB) which will include structural, civil, electro-mechanical engineering works, finishes and site works for MTB in Abu Dhabi, the UAE, for AED 10.8 Billion in total, with Arabtec's share being AED 3.6 Billion. The project's duration is 49 months following the commencement date.

The 700,000 square meter terminal building is one of the key strategic infrastructure projects to be undertaken in Abu Dhabi, and will initially handle 30 million passengers per year. It is also set to become the future home of Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE.

Riad Kamal, the CEO of Arabtec Holding PJSC said "Abu Dhabi is experiencing remarkable development in the air transport sector and business and tourism industries. We are very proud to be associated with our partners on this prestigious strategic project.

With the recent awards to the company in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, it is evident that the UAE market is active again, and is still an important market for us. This project demonstrates Arabtec's excellent track record in carrying out infrastructure and other civil aviation works in airports. Projects completed at Dubai Airport and Dubai World Central, included passenger terminals, control towers, energy centers, maintenance centers, cargo buildings, fuel storage tanks and fuel distribution systems.

Arabtec is currently involved in Dubai Airport Terminal Two Expansion and the new Jeddah Airport Main Terminal Building.

Although the company has expanded in the region and presently has a backlog of over AED 17 Billion, the UAE market is still an important market for us with a backlog valued at AED 8.5 Billion, followed by Saudi Arabia with a backlog of AED 5.6 Billion, being our second largest market. The GCC region is active again and we are hopeful that our business strategy will result in further awards soon".
