This year's most awaited event for lovers of the Islamic arts from all over the world, The Mahabba Award Festival, will be held in Abu Dhabi this year from April 17th-19th.  The three day event will be held at Al Raha Beach Theatre and will feature some of the world's most popular Nasheed artists.  This year's confirmed special guests include actors Mohamed Henidi and Mahmoud Al Gendi as well as world renowned Yusef Islam (formerly known as Cat Stevens).  There is also to be special performances by Mohamed Al Mazem, Ehab Tawfiq and Native Deen to name but a few and with more high profile names yet to be announced.

The event is held under the patronage of HRH Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and is under the honorary Presidency of HH Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.  The Mahabba Award Festival was established to reward artistic expressions of the love for the Prophet Mohammed and will showcase a number of musical concerts climaxing with a world-class award ceremony on the final day.  Submissions are accepted internationally in the following categories; Music, Advertisements, Documentaries and TV programs, Films, Books, Photography and drawings, Media Channels, Personality of the Year and Event of the Year with an extended deadline until March 5th.  For anyone wanting to submit to any of the categories they can do so online at www.mahabba.tv.

The event is set to be one of the highlights of the year internationally for music and art lovers from all over the world.  The schedule of events will include a press conference, joining media outlets from all over the world, an exhibition of the submitted works for the awards, a scientific conference, and youth, classical and women's music concerts.  The event is due to be aired by a number of broadcasters including, Abu Dhabi TV, Dubai TV, Qatar TV, the Million's Poet Channel and Rotana.  More than 3000 people are estimated to attend the event in April. 

The Mahabba Award Festival is organized by a committee of volunteers made up of prominent Sheikhs, Business men and media personalities. This year the committee is aiming to secure financing through donations to cover the cost of the event of more than $3 million USD.  Pyramedia the Middle East's largest Production Company headed by media personality Nashwa Al Ruwaini has volunteered to produce the event this year aiming to secure the Mahabba Award Festival as an annual world-class event honoring the efforts of dedicate people for their appreciation and love of the Prophet Mohammed. 

Nashwa Al Ruwaini quotes "I believe strongly in this project as not only will it highlight to the world the unity of Muslims through music but will also help to bridge cultures and help to combat the negative images of the Islamic world".

The event was last held in 2006 at the Grand Hayatt Dubai and showcased performers such as Native Deen from the USA, Ehab Tawfiq and Hanan Al Turk from Egypt and The Sound of Reason from Canada.  Award winners from 2006 included Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan for Personality of the Year, the late Mustapha Akkad for his film 'The Message' which was received by his son Malek after his father's tragic death in the 2005 Amman bombings.  The festival was attended by over 3000 people from all over the world.
