Mr. Antoine Amirza the Economic & Commercial attaché at the Embassy of Belgium in Damascus assures that there are big number of Belgian companies which have concern in participation in the 15th session of the International Buildex Exhibition 2009, Buildex will take place at Damascus - Fairgrounds- Syria from 12-16/5/2009, because of the significant advantage they witnessed in their previous participations in this exhibition. Mr. Amirza added in a special interview with Buildex online website, the Belgian participation in Buildex for this year shall be through a national pavilion with an area pf 150 m², representing the Belgian government, with tens of companies which have concern in the Syrian markets, in addition to the significant participation of the Belgian companies specialized in the field of treating the solid waste, which are 40 companies, and the companies working in the scope of wind power generated, saying that the Belgian participation shall not be limited to the national pavilion, but also many other companies shall participate through their agents in Syria in private stands.

Mr. Amirza spoke highly of the significance of Law No. 3 for the year 2009 to save energy, rendered by President Bachar Al Assad, where Syria is considered as the first Arab country that obligates the public authorities and private companies to use the power saving tools and equipment when constructing buildings and projects, and to rely on the production of alternative power (solar energy / wind energy). He indicated that there are many Belgian companies which show their desire to participate in Buildex to offer their services in the field of sustaining energy and environment through projects that will be exhibited in the fair and to be executed with the Syrian party.

He continued that the Belgian pavilion includes Belgian companies exhibiting unique types of tiles guaranteed for more than 25 years, in addition to the exhibition of insulators which contain electro-light cells generating solar energy, so that it can be used in many utilizations.

Similarly, the Belgian economical and commercial attaché pointed at the continuous presence of the Belgian companies in the field of solid waste, companies of alternative energies, stating that the Belgian desire to accelerate the commencement of work in the project of generating energy from wind in Homs Governorate, where many meetings were held for that purpose with the Governor of Homs, and it is expected that Belgium may join Germany, Denmark and Spain in this project.

The pavilion also will include Belgian companies exhibiting waterproofing wooden floors around the swimming pool with unique specification treated chemically isolated and anti-sliding. Also specialized companies in stones and marble cutting using diamond blades will also participate, in addition to other companies that will exhibit raw materials used in paint industry.

About the electronic digital maps through the satellite, used to locate the electricity, telephones and water nets, Amirza confirmed that the operating Belgian company in this field shall be available in Buildex Exhibition through its agent in Syria to promote this important project, saying that Damascus governorate is about to announce an international tender for that purpose, where the project, when executed, will serve instead of excavations in streets and public roads, by coordinating excavation between the three authorities, and consequently to define the location of failure through the satellite, and hence repair will be done as quick as possible and at low cost.

He indicated that the company has limited projects in some Syrian governorates such as Aleppo, within the scope of electrical network, and also the project can be utilized in defining the location of the ruins not yet discovered and so on..

On the other hand, the economical attaché is going to arrange for many lectures on the margin of Buildex for many Belgian companies, in addition to a cocktail party that will be attended by many officials and businessmen, consultants and engineers, which shall be a chance to discuss issues of cooperation between the Belgian companies and businessmen from the Syrian side.

At the end of his speech, Mr. Antoine Amirza confirmed that the role of the economical and commercial attaché is to enhance economical cooperation between the two countries, the exchanged visits between the governments of Syria and Belgium, in addition to the visits of the Syrian - Belgian Businessmen Council, where the last visit was made a month ago. These meetings paves the way for more economical cooperation, specially the good relation between the two sides which goes back for many decades, where Belgium has a great history in executing important projects in Syrian in the various fields.
