U.S. Embassy in Cameroon

The U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce its call for applications for the 2022 Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) for Scholars and Secondary Educators.  Funded by the U.S. government, SUSI exchanges are intensive five-to-six-week post-graduate level academic programs at various academic institutions in the United States to provide foreign university faculty, scholars, and secondary educators the opportunity to deepen their understanding of U.S. society, culture, values, and institutions.  The deadline for application is January 9, 2022.

The ultimate goal of SUSI is to strengthen curricula and to enhance the quality of teaching about the United States at academic institutions abroad.  SUSI for Scholars comprise the following themes in U.S. Studies: American Culture and Values; Journalism and Media; Religious Pluralism in the United States; U.S. Economics and Business; U.S. Foreign Policy; and Workforce Development.  The Embassy invites experienced and highly motivated university faculty, scholars, researchers, practitioners, specialists, and other professionals from institutions of higher education or research focused organizations to apply for the program.

SUSI for Secondary Educators provide multinational groups of secondary educators with a deeper understanding of U.S. society, education, and culture – past and present. The institutes focus on providing content and materials for participants to develop high school level curricula about the United States.  Through a combination of traditional, multi-disciplinary, and interdisciplinary approaches, program content will examine the history and evolution of U.S. institutions and values, broadly defined.  Two of the Institutes are tailored for secondary school teachers.  The third Institute is tailored for experienced administrators including teacher trainers, curriculum developers, textbook writers, Ministry of Education officials, and others.
