Dubai, UAE, Nov. 6, 2004 - SPAN Supply Network Solutions (SNS), the leading provider of supply network solutions to companies operating in the Middle East, today announced the successful implementation of the EXceed WMS warehouse management system (WMS) at PWC Logistics' Beirut distribution center.
SPAN-SNS' Professional Services team worked closely with PWC personnel throughout the entire application implementation project to minimize disruptions to PWC's operations. The systems integration process was greatly accelerated through the use of BOOMI's enterprise application integration (EAI) tool. The EXceed WMS works jointly with a radio-frequency (RF) communications system featuring hand-held scanning devices from LXE. This system facilitates the capture and transmission of product, event, and task information.
"The entire implementation went extremely smoothly", commented Mario Ghosn, SPAN-SNS's Services Director. He continued, "Our deep knowledge of the EXceed WMS combined with PWC's long experience in using it, greatly facilitated the entire process."
In Lebanon, PWC currently provides warehousing and distribution services to Spinneys' retail operations. An essential part of this service is the cross-dock operation in which goods are received at PWC's facility and then allocated and forwarded directly to Spinneys' retail stores during the same day. On average, the facility handles 1,500 receipt lines and 7,500 order lines per day.
Riad Chababi, PWC's Operations Manager in Beirut, commented, "We are the first 3PL provider in Lebanon to offer service using an advanced WMS. Our customers will benefit from more efficient product handling and improved inventory visibility." He continued, "BOOMI's EAI tool, greatly reduces the cost of integrating our WMS with our customers' systems, what would usually require days can be completed in hours."
