Sherezade Films, a leading Middle Eastern, multi-million dollar entertainment company, has launched Sherezade Film Marketing Co. Ltd (SFMC), a new business entity that will move into the increasingly profitable film distribution business, initially in the US marketplace; thereafter in Canada and Europe.
In the past 36 months, Sherezade Films (SF) has become one of the first Middle Eastern companies that has tapped into the Western films industry. SF has, since early 2006, co-financed and co-produced 12 first-class Hollywood feature films, such as SMART PEOPLE, starring Dennis Quaid and Sarah Jessica Parker, THE LUCKY ONES with Tim Robbins and Rachel McAdams and NEW YORK I LOVE YOU, with notable stars including Orlando Bloom and Nathalie Portmann.
By end 2009, SF will aim to raise and allocate up to USD 100 million in a P&A (Print and Advertisement) fund to cover the cost to theatrically release motion pictures. Sherezade will only invest in a pre-selected film-slate of well-known distribution outlets in the USA, Canada and Western Europe to gain maximum returns for its investors from the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
Aloys Vet, CFO of SFMC, adds: We are glad that, with SFMC, we will be able to offer our investors a highly profitable and rather safe investment vehicle in the western film business, as SFMC will invest only in finished films and recoup from the first dollar coming from the box-office.
