In order to raise awareness concerning safety on the road, Shell Oman Marketing Company launched a unique initiative with Royal Oman Police during the GCC Traffic Week from the 16th to 21st March 02. At all the ROP-GCC traffic checkpoints throughout the sultanate, Shell representatives are distributing a especially designed leaflet which raises safety awareness amongst the drivers.

"We at Shell Oman, regard safety as paramount, and for this reason we are pleased to participate with the Royal Oman Police during this year's GCC Traffic Week in their initiatives to reach out to all the drivers with the objective of raising awareness". A Shell Oman official said.

" We thank Royal Oman Police for their continued efforts in making Oman a safe country for both drivers and pedestrians, and we are certainly proud to be associated with them".

An interesting feature in this initiative is that each leaflet also acts as a coupon, which the drivers can fill and drop at a Shell retail station. At the end of the GCC ROP week a grand draw will be held in a function hosted by ROP on Thursday 14th March at the Traffic School at 4:30 PM, where the Chief Guest Colonel Alwai Al Kaff - Director of Public Relations in the Royal Oman Police, will make the draw for the lucky winner of a brand new Toyota Echo.

The response to the initiative is very positive and motorists who are stopped at the checkpoints are getting safety awareness message in such a way that they feel motivated and take part in the ROP - GCC traffic week.
