Arifi to deliver the inaugural lecture themed "Self-refinement in Ramadan"

Sharjah - Sharjah Islamic Bank reviewed their arrangements and put a finale touch to the preparations underway, which is being put into place to inaugurate the 5th consecutive edition of Ramadan Tent, which will run from 4 to 18 August. The initiative is an important part of the bank's keenness to launch a range of meaningful awareness programs for all members of community and offer various programs and prizes during the Ramadan evenings. The activities are focused on the educational, entertaining and professional aspects that suit the sanctity of the month and the choices of families, as well as enhancing the role of Islamic banking in supporting the principles of social responsibility.    

The opening ceremony will take place in the new venue of the Ramadan Tent in the Al Refaa area, Sharjah, in the presence of a number of prominent figures in banking, financial and economic sectors in the country, as well as special guests and visitors from different emirates of the UAE. The activities will start next Thursday with a religious lecture titled "Self-refinement in Ramadan" that will delivered by the reputed preacher Sheikh Dr Mohammed Al Arifi. The lecture will be delivered in coordination with Watani program after Taraweeh prayers.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Hassan Abdullah Al Balgoni, Head of the Ramadan Tent organizing committee and Head of the Public Relations and Social Responsibility Division at SIB, said: "The holy month of Ramadan has its special sanctity that is maintained by every Emirati. This month has, also, its public rituals. The interest to preserve the rituals of Ramadan is shared by institutions which are keen to play an effective role in this regard. The efforts are focused on fostering social solidarity and supporting the month with more intellectual, cultural, humanitarian and professional activities.

Al Balgoni added: "In response to the importance of the tent's programs, the large number of visitors in the launch ceremony and the tremendous public interest from all the emirates of the UAE, the bank is keen to shed more light on the tent's programs. They have planned interesting initiatives such as launching special pages about the SIB tent on social network websites such as Facebook and Twitter, in addition to offering communication services through Blackberry. The management intends to further develop the tent's objectives and ambitions through exchanging views and opinions in a way that reflect the authenticity of the country, promote feeling of association and affinity among members of community and strengthen institutional ties with other parties which share mutual goals with the bank".   

The itinerary that was announced in a press release held recently, includes 15 activities that will take place in the fortnight, including religious, media, professional,  entertaining lectures and Nasheed evenings, as well as children activities. The tent will host an evening for people with special needs, which will take place in association with the Al Thiqah Club for Handicapped. In association with the Sharjah Development Forum, the event will include a lecture about the importance of social responsibility.  A dedicated evening will be allocated for supporting the charity works. The evenings will be supervised by a number of specialized figures from the media, social and professional communities in the UAE.

Dr. Mustafa Ammar Al Manla from Al Madinah Al Munawwarah Researches and Studies Centre will deliver a lecture under the theme "A night in Makkah". An evening will be dedicated to women under the theme "Our Children are Fine" in association with the Sharjah Supreme Council for Family Affairs. The SIB Ramadan Tent will host the national expert on etiquette and protocol, Prof. Mohammed Al Marzouqi, who will deliver a lecture on Islamic etiquette under the title "Ramadan, the School of Etiquette". The tent will also host a media evening under the theme "The UAE media: challenges and ambitions", that will be attended by a group of prominent local media figures. In support of youth enterprises, the SIB Ramadan Tent in collaboration with the National Network for Small and Medium Enterprises and Ruwad, will organize an evening called "Leadership in Youth Enterprises".

Following the resounding success achieved by the SIB's Ramadan Tents over the previous four editions, the activities have been expanded to cover the largest groups of families, businessmen and specialists in intellectual, literary, cultural, artistic and sporting sectors. The participating figures and the prizes offered by the bank have significantly contributed to the success and the increasing popularity of the activities.
