New Mafraq Hospital and New Al Ain Hospital recognized for innovative designs
Abu Dhabi, UAE 2 June 2010. Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC (SEHA) was honored with three awards at this year's Hospital Build Exhibition in Dubai. They include two hospital projects it owns and operates in the SEHA HealthSystem in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and another for the work done in the healthcare system as a whole to improve the Healing Environment of its facilities. The awards trophies for the Hospital Build Awards were presented by His Excellency Khalid Al Shaikh Mubarak, CEO of Shared Support Services Sector at the Dubai Health Authority at a ceremony held at the Exhibition.
Winning the Best Sustainability Hospital Project was SEHA's new Mafraq Hospital, a state-of-the-art environmentally sensitive 745-bed four-tower facility being built to replace the current hospital in the same area. SEHA also received Highly Commended recognition in the category of Best Hospital Design for its new Al Ain Hospital, a 687 oasis-like marvel going up in Al Ain to replace the current facility. Both new hospitals will open the end of 2013 or early 2014.
The SEHA HealthSystem as a whole was recognized with a Highly Commended Award for Best Healing Environment, which recognizes the best all round management of healthcare facilities in the Middle East.
Saif Bader Al Qubaisi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC (SEHA) commented, "Our vision is to develop a healthcare system and to develop the infrastructure required to support and achieve world class standards for healthcare delivery. I congratulate our team and all our partners on this recognition which shows we are moving in the right path towards that goal."
Carl Stainfer, CEO of SEHA added, "We have worked very hard since we were launched in January 2008 to develop an attitude about excellence and deliver on our promise of high quality healthcare for the residents of Abu Dhabi. We love to compete in these types of reviews because it gives us a relative benchmark of how we are doing against that mission. We competed for three awards and either won or were highly commended in all three. We are the only healthcare company in the Middle East with three recognitions. That shows we are moving in the right direction.
Saif Fadhel Al Hameli, Chief, Facilities and Construction for SEHA commented on Al Mafraq Hospital's win, "We thank the selection committee for their recognition. We are of course, very pleased to have both of our projects, the new Mafraq Hospital and the new Al Ain Hospital, shortlisted for the competition. To then have Mafraq selected as the Best Sustainable Hospital Project is most gratifying. We have worked very hard with our partners Burt Hill and the Project Manager, Allen & Shariff. Special thanks to all on our SEHA team, Bumrungrad International and the Mafraq Hospital Team involved to create a project that would not only provide a world class healing environment focusing on patients but would also be sensitive to our physical and cultural environment. We also salute our partners Faust-Obermeyer on the Al Ain Project as well as the work of VAMED, Medical University of Vienna and the management team and employees of Al Ain Hospital for their honor."
