- Free e-guides offer proprietary research from Canalys and reveal new insights
Singapore: Schneider Electric, the leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, hosted more than 50 press members across Asia Pacific, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and South America at its latest “Life at the Edge” International Press Event, September 19 – 20 in Singapore. The event brought together Schneider Electric experts, industry analyst, customers, and partners to provide press with opportunity to immerse into Edge Computing and learn how digitization is driving the technology landscape today for data center and Edge Infrastructure.
As the second major press event following the conference in Boston earlier this year, Schneider Electric is well-positioned in enabling digital transformation for customers with its integrated system, cloud-based architecture and ecosystem – proven successful as the press experienced real use cases from its customers across the two-day event.
Improving Resiliency with Edge Computing
Adoption of fast-moving technologies and methodologies – cloud, Artificial Intelligence, and Internet of Things (IoT) – are demanding a new kind of technical knowledge and dexterity. Traditional IT is shifting and becoming more distributed, requiring a digital approach to IT infrastructure and operations. With its ability to reduce latency and increase availability, Edge computing presents a promising way forward, especially across three key industries that are fast emerging through digital transformation: commercial (retail, healthcare, finance, and education), industrial (oil & gas, mining, automotive, and manufacturing) and telco (cell towers and base stations).
In order to realize the full potential of Edge Computing, challenges faced across industries must be addressed, including poor resiliency, lack of remote monitoring and management, lack of standardization and integration and lastly, the large number of sites with limited IT staff. With these considerations, Schneider Electric’s solutions are designed and developed to deliver resiliency as well as simplify design, deployment, and management across all edge applications – and equipped with integrated systems, cloud-based architecture, and partner Ecosystem.
One of the customers was Murdoch University that seizes lead position as a creative force in the education field with its robust and reliable IT innovation hub designed for immersive learning experience for students. Equipped with Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxture IT, it is currently the first higher learning institution in Western Australia granting students and teacher greater learning, research, and maximum flexibility with its 24/7 digital workspace.
New Research Released to Help IT Industry Navigate Edge Computing Challenges
During the event, Schneider Electric also released two new e-guides to support the IT industry in addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by edge computing – available free to IT and data center professionals, managed service providers (MSPs), and value-added resellers (VARs).
- Developed in partnership with the independent research firm Canalys, the new e-guide “How to Capitalize on the Edge Computing Opportunity” is designed to help MSPs and VARs identify new revenue streams by supporting customers in their edge computing strategy.
- “Buyer’s Guide to Edge Infrastructure Management” identifies the right questions to ask and the key steps IT and data center professionals should take before selecting and deploying an edge infrastructure management solution.
The e-guides deliver proprietary research from Canalys, guidance from IT leaders, and insight garnered from years of R&D developing IT and data center solutions under the APC by Schneider Electric brand. They are available now on APC.com and SE.com.
