Saudi Diesel Marketing, the sole agent for Neoplan Bus Group in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has announced a number of reasons why the company has attained its leading position and reputation for innovation and creativity.

The company, with 50 years experience in bus building, can be proud of the fact that today its Neoplan Apron buses operate at 141 airports in 71 countries.

Neoplan have been operating in Saudi Arabia for more than 20 years, covering the Kingdom's major airports including Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam and Medina. Ahead of its competitors, Saudi Diesel Marketing will soon introduce the new NM9022L models, creating a new image in modern ground handling meeting the need of airports and airlines for today's passengers.

The commission of the European Union gave the unconditional go ahead to the long awaited approval of the merger of the bus and coach sections of Man and Neoplan enabling both companies to better meet the demands of all its customers and underline its technical leadership and improve the quality of its products and services.

This is positively reflected in the coach division's turnover with the Man and Neoplan brands rising to 1.22 billion Euro, a 5% increase compared with the previous year (1.16 billion Euro).  Despite the market recession, sales in 2003 increased by 8% to 6,232 units.

The figure includes 3,304 completed coaches, 1.755 buses on chassis and 1,233 CKD buses, and large orders for buses from China, Saudi Arabia (15 buses N9022L model, in King Adul Aziz International Airport, North terminal, during the year 2003), Egypt, Hungary, the Middle East and Russia.

One of the major characteristics which distinguish Neoplan is the constant search for sophisticated and advanced technology.  Recognising this Neoplan exterior designer Michael Streicher has approached university students asking them to design the coach of the future.  Many universities have expressed interest, but the choice fell ultimately on Munich.  The topic for the project was chosen together with the Professor for Industrial Design, Prof Brauchle and called "Futuristic Vision of a bus in 2030", further proof of how the company cares for the future and makes all efforts to measure up to any development that may occur in the industry.
