Strategic alliance accelerates growth of Samsung Printers business in the region

16 May 2007 - Samsung Gulf Electronics - the world's second largest laser printer manufacturer - announced it has restructured its distribution model for its printers division in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. The new model is expected to drive Samsung's market share in laser printers to 20% in KSA, 25% in Egypt and 25% in the Gulf region by the end of 2007.

Riyadh based distributor, BDL, ETE and BDL Egypt will now act as Samsung's in-country distributors in Saudi Arabia and Egypt respectively, with Redington now expanding its portfolio of Samsung products to handle the entire range of Samsung printers in the Gulf region.

Samsung Printers Division, which operates through various entities in the Middle East, considers this move as a big step in addressing the needs of the laser printing market in the Middle East.

Seunngu Kang, general manager of the Digital Printing Division said: "There is a huge opportunity for geographic expansion in the key markets in the Middle East and this model has been designed to streamline distribution and improve delivery time to customers.

Our partners all have very strong presence in the countries in which they operate as well as an excellent track record in providing unparalleled customer service with the brands they carry," continued Kang.

Since being founded in the Gulf region in 2003, the Samsung printing business has captured 20% of market share in terms of Laser Printer Business.

Lancy Menezes, sales and marketing manager of the digital printing division at Samsung Gulf Electronics said: "This model gives us the ability to forecast and manage inventory levels more accurately as well as leverage our distributors' vast infrastructure and local expertise to meet the needs of Samsung Printers resellers. We are hoping to achieve 25% of the market share in the Gulf region and 20% in Saudi Arabia in specific by the end of 2007. Today's announcement is a big step in this direction."
