RTA will train some of Emarat employees on SALIK system and provide them with the required technical support in order to cope with any technical defects in users' service system. RTA will develop plans to implement the project before and after operation.
Emarat will cater for selling & distributing SALIK cards which are affixed to the front windshield of the SALIK users' vehicles. Account replenishment service will also be provided for SALIK users. It is an electronic account provided by RTA to SALIK users and contains the personal details along with the details of the vehicle owned by the user as per the details entered in the application for SALIK system. RTA will manage all the financial operations of the user through that account.

The agreement stated that the service-providing bodies shall provide the applications for subscription in SALIK system in the agreed sales outlets and a suitable number of employees to be allocated to offer outstanding service to SALIK users.
H.E. Al Tayer hailed the initiative of Emirates General Petroleum Company to provide service for the Electronic Traffic Tariff System "SALIK" through its stations that spread all over the northern emirates. "SALIK" is part of integrated solutions systems aiming at easing the traffic congestion. Such systems include roads & bridges projects, rail & tram projects, public transport systems and marine transport systems. This in addition to traffic policies and legislations aiming at reducing the use of private vehicles and encouraging the use of public transport" he commented.
He further stated that the system is electronically sophisticated where E-Gates fitted with remote sensing equipment deduct the prescribed tariff from the account of the respective owner of the vehicle through the tag affixed at the front windshield of vehicles. There will be no need to stop or slow down the speed of the vehicle. In the event of no tag fixed or no sufficient funds in the account, electronic cameras will take shots of the number plate and a violation will be reported.
"RTA launched a center dedicated to the inquiries of Electronic Traffic Tariff System "SALIK" to attend to all queries raised by drivers" Al Tayer added. The center could be contacted at 800- SALIK (72545) from Saturday to Thursday from 09.00am to 06.00pm. The center has been manned to answer queries in Arabic, English & Urdu (Indian) languages. It is an interactive point to deal with a large sector of drivers and the general public from all nationalities and languages. It will provide extensive information about the system, its mechanism, the locations of the E-Gates and the steps to be taken to avail the innovative service and maintain subscription.
H.E. Rashid Hamad Al Shamsi, Director General of Emirates General Petroleum Company expressed his pleasure for signing the agreement with RTA and entering in a partnership with the RTA to provide initiatives that are simple in procedure and accessible to all segments of the society.
He added, "Emirates General Petroleum Company is keen to contribute to the success of this vital project; which is introduced for the first time in the region.
