United Arab Emirates, August 16, 2009 - In response to the recent media coverage regarding an iconic UK landmark being used to promote The Cove Rotana Resort in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, Rotana would like to clarify that the image was not used by Rotana or published on the company's official website www.rotana.com. It is believed that the image is a stock picture that originated from a website aimed at promoting the development of the area around the resort, not the resort itself.
"In all cases, that the website shown in the articles is for The Cove Rotana Resort and that Rotana used an image of the Durdle Door to promote Ras Al Khaimah, the stories are factually incorrect. It is also important to note that Rotana have only been contacted by the BBC, and no other press agency in this respect. What's equally upsetting is that the British press were saying that Ras Al Khaimah is in Dubai, when in fact its well over 100 kilometers away and another Emirate", said Amal Harb, Associate Vice President Marketing & Communications for Rotana.
"Rotana has only ever used original images of Ras Al Khaimah and The Cove Rotana Resort, taken by professional local photographers, to demonstrate to customers how truly beautiful the hotel and resort are. As a company that currently manages 68 properties throughout the Middle East, Rotana does not use stock pictures to illustrate or promote any of the hotels in its portfolio", concluded Harb.
