Riyadh, October 20th 2011 - Saudi Arabia is currently the largest ICT market in the Middle East and expectations for the next 12 months indicate this will continue. According to the latest research from Hewlett Packard in collaboration with Coleman Research Group, 85 per cent of Saudi Arabian organisations will adopt cloud technologies in 2012 (1).

The study also reveals that almost 40 per cent of those looking to implement cloud computing are keen to do so prior to next year. Given the apparent movement towards virtualisation, the timing of the 2nd Annual CIO Strategies Saudi Arabia Forum - taking place in Riyadh on November 21st and 22nd 2011 - could not be more appropriate.

Organised by leading French business information group naseba, the two-day platform is divided into two separate areas of focus. Day one is dedicated to strategies and knowledge-sharing for Chief Information Officers, whilst day two is called 'Kingdom Cloud Computing.'

Of principal interest to organisations in the Kingdom is how they can modernise their legacy applications by using the cloud - including database system and application development. Switching to a virtual environment will enhance the speed of application development and delivery.

In addition, the platform provides Saudi Arabian CIOs with an opportunity to learn about the latest technology and innovations in the ICT sector from leading solution providers. Hitachi Data Systems, ZTE, enStratus and Sybase are just a few of the organisations participating.

The importance of the 2nd Annual CIO Strategies Saudi Arabia Forum is underlined by the support it is receiving from regional associations. These include ISACA Riyadh, the local chapter of ISACA, a global association for IT and information systems professionals.

"Businesses across the globe are shifting their technological focus to cloud computing. By organising the 2nd Annual CIO Strategies Saudi Arabia Forum - with a day dedicated to the cloud - we are ensuring that the Saudi Arabian ICT sector keeps pace with global standards," explained Managing Director of naseba, Nicholas Watson.
