The Sultanate's well known power storage company - Reem Batteries and Power Appliances Co SAOC reiterate that their Antara Gold Maintenance Free batteries have a 12 months warranty period. At Reem Batteries, the warranty for batteries like for most manufactured goods, is a warranty of replacement if there are any faults due to poor workmanship or manufacturing defects that lead to failure of the batteries within the stipulated warranty period.
Most batteries come with thinner 'Expanded grids' without side frames which give them a poor life under Gulf climatic conditions. Antara Gold Maintenance Free (MF) batteries are made with Lead-Calcium-Tin technology and have superior quality plates, which are thicker, stronger cast grids with frames all around. Having a longer service life, the batteries are sealed and maintenance free (SMF), and are specially designed and engineered to work under tough and uncompromising conditions.
S Thangadurai, Chief Technologist, Reem Batteries and Power Appliances Co SAOC specifies, "For battery replacement claims at Reem batteries, we follow a certain procedure. Each new battery carries a two part serial number sticker. At the time of sale, one part of that sticker is removed and stuck on the original sales bill. To claim warranty, one needs to submit the original sales bill with the sticker, which needs to tally with the other part of the sticker which is on the battery. The date of sale as per the bill should be within one year from the complaint date."
He continues, "However, it should be kept in mind, that if the required documents are not produced, or if there is any damage on the battery or terminals, forging of documents, then the claim is rejected. Also, the warranty is void if the battery has been subjected to overcharging, abuse, faulty vehicle charging system, neglect, and tampering of markings. As soon as it is determined that the battery is defective and within its specified warranty period, it will be replaced with an equivalent battery, free of charge to serve the remaining period under warranty."
