"Arabian Properties 2006 is an important forum for ALDAR"

Abu Dhabi, 13 February, 2006: Highlighting the role of pioneering real estate developers in Abu Dhabi such as ALDAR, Sorouh and Reem Investments, Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Chairman of ALDAR Properties PJSC said that real estate developers have a responsibility, not only to shareholders, but to the wider community and indeed to the Abu Dhabi government.

"Quality, iconic projects support the drive for excellence that is now the watchword of the Abu Dhabi emirate's leadership. Poorly designed and built projects, in an increasingly free market, will have an impact far beyond our shores", said Al Sayegh.  He urged the main developers in the emirate to pay very careful attention to every level of the market chain: management expertise, research, site selection, contractor selection, on-site project management and experienced supervision - followed by good marketing and the highest level of long-term maintenance.

"Going forward, the market will be shaped by the quality of our product and the brand image that results - as well as by the new regulations that will permit expatriates to buy property in such iconic projects as ALDAR's forthcoming new city near the airport, Al Raha Beach" he said in an interview published by Construction & Property Times, the newsletter of the Arabian Properties 2006 exhibition & conference.

Arabian Properties 2006 will be held 2-5 April, 2006 at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Centre. ALDAR is one of the main sponsors and a key participant at the event. "Participation at the show will be an important element in ALDAR's continuing roll-out of new projects, while we aim to reinforce our corporate identity in the minds of all our audiences - shareholders, buyers, consumers, financiers, contractors and government".

"On a strategic level, we want to show visitors something of the breadth of our vision for future developments and projects, moving well beyond what we have announced to date. On a tactical level, we shall be showing detailed, high-quality models, computer visuals and other drawings of many of our specific projects - aiming to develop further interest in all our activities".

Elaborating on some of ALDAR's key projects, Al Sayegh pointed out that Al Raha Gardens was the first development to be offered in Abu Dhabi on an ownership basis. "Built on 665,000 square metres of heavily landscaped area and incorporating villas and townhouses, two prestigious schools and a kindergarten, an exclusive polo hotel, polo ground and equestrian facilities, plus community retail and dining outlets, Al Raha Gardens is designed to be a complete community".

Overall 1388 villas will be constructed - and all have been pre-sold to UAE nationals. The contract for construction of the first 280 villas at Al Raha Gardens was awarded in September 2005 and the construction is expected to be completed by end of August 2006. The Al Raha Gardens, will be adjacent to the dynamic Al Raha Beach Development.

"The Al Raha Beach Development clearly illustrates the extent of ALDAR's vision and ambition. Occupying an area of 6.8 million square metres of beachfront on the Abu Dhabi-Dubai highway, Al Raha will become the spectacular new gateway to Abu Dhabi city". This development will include 60 towers amidst exclusive low rise residential developments at the water's edge that will house up to 120,000 residents. Work has already begun on land reclamation and the first sections of the new city will be completed by mid 2008.

Some of ALDAR's other key developments include the Abu Dhabi Central Market District, a fully integrated mixed-use scheme at the heart of Abu Dhabi City, The Imperial College London Diabetes Centre in Abu Dhabi City, The headquarters of Mubadala Development Co and the Environment Agency- Abu Dhabi, and the Al Jimi Mall expansion in Al Ain.

Stating that ALDAR is focusing on Abu Dhabi Emirate in the initial phase of it's development, Al Sayegh said that the company would in the future look more widely across the United Arab Emirates. "Our company mandate also allows us to create developments outside the UAE's borders - and our plans to venture overseas will be announced at the appropriate time".
