The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland ("RCSI") held a ceremony for graduates of the Intercollegiate MRCS Examination.

51 doctors from across the region, including Jordan, Oman, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Bahrain were conferred with the MRCS award at a conferring ceremony which took place at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland's campus in Bahrain earlier this week.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Faisal Bin Yacub Al Hamer, Ministry of Health, Dr. Faisal Al Mosawi, President of RCSI Bahrain and other dignitaries and medical professionals from across the GCC.  Graduates were presented with their awards by Professor Frank Keane, President of RCSI, who, commenting on the ceremony said, "Conferring ceremonies mark a celebration and recognition of the graduate's accomplishments which they have achieved through outstanding ability, diligent application, sacrifice, excellent teaching and, in particular the support of family and friends.  I would like to congratulate everyone here today on their achievements and wish them success in their careers."

The programme was funded by RCSI and demonstrates the College's commitment to developing leaders in the medical profession.  MRCSI stands for the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.  It is a postgraduate examination taken by hospital based doctors who are wishing to develop their careers by specialising in the field of surgery. It is a professional qualification for surgeons who have received their medical degree from either the United Kingdom or Ireland.
