Ras Al Khaimah: H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, launched the new logo of the Emirates Club at a glittering function held at the Al Hamra Convention Centre here last night, marking a new era in the club's history after the recent merger of Ras Al Khaimah Club with the Emirates Club.
Speaking after the launch of the new bright red club logo, Sheikh Saud said that the merger of the two clubs marked a new stage in the development of sports in the emirate and noted that it reflected the solidarity and spirit of cooperation among the emirate's youth to join hands and work together for a common greater purpose in the sports arena.
Sheikh Saud said that UAE has been able to make great strides in a variety of sports, both regionally and internationally, and the country has created a modern sporting infrastructure with high-tech facilities and coaching centres. He lauded the sporting fraternity in the country for their role in nurturing the country's talent with the active support of various sports associations and clubs. RAK Ruler also announced the formation of an honorary council for the Emirates Cultural and Sports Club and wished its new board of directors all success.
The new logo unveiled at the function has a shield shape with a falcon at the centre and seven stripes in the background, symbolizing the spirit of unity among the seven emirates. Featuring the traditional national colours of red and white, the falcon in the centre of the logo denotes speed, strength and courage and is a tribute to the national emblem of the UAE. The logo was designed by Asia Sports Marketing.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, said that the new initiative would help the club to achieve the goal of promoting professional sports development in the emirate and upgrade its facilities. He appealed to the business community and institutions in Ras Al Khaimah to wholeheartedly support the club in their endeavours.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of Emirates Club, said that the merger of the two clubs highlighted the optimism and determination of Ras Al Khaimah's youth to bring more sporting laurels to the emirate. He said that the club's new board of directors will soon draw up plans to provide the emirate's youth with access to best training and sporting facilities and bring in professional management skills for the club.
Among the dignitaries present at the ceremony were Sheikh Mohammed bin Kayed Al Qasimi, Sheikh Rami bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Sheikh Salem bin Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Sheikh Khalid bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of Masafi Sports Club, Sheikh Saqr bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of Al Tawun Sports Club, Sheikh Majed bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Saeed Abdul Ghaffar, Vice President of the UAE Football Association, heads of government departments and a large number of sports personalities and top officials of various clubs in the country.
