Doha: Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press (HBKU Press) continues to publish quality research that meets globally-recognized academic publishing standards on its online, open access platform, QScience.com, since its top medical journals, Qatar Medical Journal (QMJ) and the Journal of Emergency Medicine, Trauma and Acute Care (JEMTAC), were indexed on Scopus in the early 2000s.

Other QScience journals, articles and books are also indexed in top recognized indexing bodies such as the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Scimago, the Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB), and PubMed Central.

“Our main goal at HBKU Press is to continue to develop QScience.com to ensure it remains a high impact platform that adheres to universal standards in the academic publishing and research field. This is a tremendous benefit for researchers who publish with us as their research is properly presented, disseminated and preserved for higher citation scores,” explains Dr. Rima Isaifan, Head of Journals and Academic Publishing at HBKU Press. “In this way, we are also contributing to both the local knowledge economy by providing a home for high-quality scholarly articles from the region while also engaging in the wider knowledge economy as our research is indexed on internationally recognized indexing bodies that are accessible to a global audience.”

Research indexing bodies, like Scopus and others, promote the spontaneous expansion of groundbreaking research work and outcomes by permitting researchers’ work to be disseminated on a global scale, guaranteeing certain accreditation and encouraging career elevation. Moreover, they foster collaboration by exhibiting the expertise of important partners and obvious experts purely on the merit and quality of their research work and experimental studies. This helps top experts who need people to collaborate with to easily connect with those that show immense potential in their respective field/fields of research and study.

HBKU Press has been a pioneer of academic publishing in Qatar since its inception. It adopted an Open Access model on QScience.com, hosting thousands of scholarly, peer-reviewed articles that are freely available to readers around the world.

The open access publishing model on QScience.com allows for authors to share their work freely, with higher access, download and sharing rates, while ensuring proper citation.

HBKU Press also meets the increasing demand of Arabic researchers by facilitating the unique Arabic language publication process. HBKU Press has developed a portfolio of  open access journals and conferences which are bilingual and publish Arabic academic research at the same high standard and quality as their English counterparts.

QScience.com currently hosts scholarly journals, conference proceedings and eBooks, all available for free online in an effort to disseminate knowledge and understanding of scientific, social, political and health-related subjects while adhering to international publishing standards.
