The hotel will buzz with the instant gratification, the perfect provocative moments and confident cool that Mondrian is known for worldwide.

A parallel universe of perpetual possibility, Mondrian Doha luxury hotel, is situated at the heart of Doha, in the luxurious West Bay Lagoon, and at the gateway to Qatar’s next major city destination, Lusail City, the future of Qatar with its innovative design and architecturally led landscape as well as being the causeway to the FIFA World Cup 2022.

Capturing everything the Strip stands for from excitement, invincibility and glamour, Mondrian Doha is part of the famed Mondrian boutique hotel chain, which opened its first property on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, California.

Sam Nazarian, founder & CEO, sbe commented: “We are delighted to open our first hotel in the middle east in Doha, Qatar which is one of the most dynamic cities in the region. We’re additionally set to open two more hotel properties in Dubai in 2017 and 2018 and a number of restaurants. I know that Mondrian Doha will be an incredible destination for international and local travelers alike. It will be also a fantastic destination for the locals to experience all our culinary venues.”

He continued: “Following our acquisition of Morgans Hotel Group, sbe is now unrivaled with its unique platform, offering experiences encompassing all areas of hospitality. Mondrian Doha represents exactly this - you need never leave this luxurious destination hotel as we have all your desires catered to. That said, the city outside is remarkable - a thriving artistic centre, brimming with innovation and possibilities. I’m incredibly proud that sbe is partnering with such an admired group of people at South West Architecture and Toscana Ventures, who are leading figures in the region.”

Mondrian Doha, a 270 room property designed in collaboration with globally renowned and innovative Dutch designer Marcel Wanders, is positioned to be an exceptional lifestyle offering for Qatar and the region, and marks Marcel Wanders’ first hotel in the Middle East. Mondrian Doha will express the beauty of local Arabic culture with a modern twist; the essence of One Thousand and One Nights influencing the interior spaces, which is both detail-orientated and complex, creating a fantasy-like environment that is true to the signature Marcel Wanders design.

Structurally, the building of Mondrian Doha is shaped like a falcon, with many references to the national bird of Qatar also found inside; from paintings and portraits to falcon headpieces and ornaments. Mondrian’s famous lobby scene, the soul of the hotel, recreates the see-and-be-seen vibe of the original Mondrian concept and will be the place to meet of all hours of day and night. Further majestic highlights at the hotel include the mesmerising stained glass dome skylight on the 27th floor, and a striking custom-designed four-level high spiral staircase to no-where; an awe-inspiring sculptural piece that gives the impression that the stairs extend to the sky and acts as a focal point of the atrium which leads guests up to one of the most beautiful viewing platforms of Doha’s skyline.

At Mondrian Doha, guests will experience a fairy tale environment and a celebration of moments, people and luxury in its pure essence. Mondrian Doha is a fantasia destination that celebrates fashion, art, culture and music, as well as being an epicenter for indulgent culinary experiences.

The property will have a number of distinctive room categories to choose from including Penthouse suites, Studio Suites, One and Two Bedroom Suites plus a range of standard guestrooms. All of the guestrooms allow for flexible configuration in a bright, airy space and with a warm, soft colour scheme, with pale hues of cream and yellow reminiscent of Qatar’s desert. Additionally, all of the property’s rooms feature bespoke miniature artworks, luxurious custom-made furniture and Swarovski crystal chandeliers.

Further, Mondrian Doha will weave together traditional elements of local Arabic culture including ornate Arabic calligraphy and historic souqs, alongside Wanders’ bespoke design features. Ground breaking elements designed by Wanders include giant columns with golden eggs, a ‘tree of life’ comprised of flowers, falcon video art, giant shisha, patterned carpets, ornate stained glass and intricate mosaic tiling.

Dutch designer Marcel Wanders commented: “Stories connect us to our history, our culture and to each other. Stepping into Mondrian Doha begins the first chapter of a wonderful story that unfolds around every turn. Conceptually, we have married local culture with a modern design aesthetic. While many themes are collectively layered throughout the hotel, each individual space tells its own tale. Guests may therefore have many different experiences and weave for themselves a collection of stories to share.”

Guests will have the opportunity to experience the hotel’s culinary emporium boasting eight innovative restaurants and bars to dine at including a number of entirely new offerings to Qatar, as Mondrian Doha looks to provide an unparalleled epicurean experience for its guests. While Middle Eastern cuisine is at the heart of Mondrian Doha’s food and beverage offering, a number of internally renowned chefs will be bringing their concepts to the property including Wolfgang Puck, master chef and restaurateur, bringing to the Middle East for the first time his highly acclaimed and exciting concept, CUT by Wolfgang Puck. As well as Japanese Chef, Masaharu Morimoto, who has garnered critical and popular acclaim for his seamless integration of Western and Japanese ingredients, who will introduce Morimoto Doha, the first eponymous Morimoto outpost to open in the Middle East.

Moreover, Mondrian Doha will boast Magnolia Bakery located in the heart of the Hotel’s lobby, and a number of other concepts including an authentic Qatari restaurant and a burger restaurant, cigar lounge and Shisha terrace.

Mondrian Doha boasts the largest ESPA Spa, the world’s finest spa brand in the world, with over 2,000 sqm of space spanning across an entire floor, quite simply the next generation of spas. Stand out features include separate areas for men and women, eleven treatment rooms, a spa within the spa and authentic Hammam facilities as well as specialised areas for disabled guests. Offering luxury wellness for mind and body, this pioneering new concept offers a fully integrated approach to wellbeing, bringing together a team of the world’s top experts, complementary alternative therapies, fitness, beauty treatments and a hair salon, right in the heart of Doha. All Espa products are created in its own spa as part of the chains’ belief in the power of nature to calm, refresh and renew.

The property offers a grand and spacious wedding and multi-purpose ballroom with over 2000 sqm, one of the largest in Qatar, that can hold up to 1500 guests and can be transformed into different settings with distinct atmospheres, ornate plaster ceiling domes with crystal chandeliers that create a sense of occasion and opulence, as well as a hidden VIP Bridal suite with 15 metre high lofty columns, and a grand staircase entrance that no other venue or bride has experienced in weddings before.
