February 11, 2013: Dubai, UAE - The region's pioneering Arab Youth Venture Foundation yesterday introduced its three-day innovative STEAM (science, technology, engineering, aerospace, math) Educator Training wherein space education experts from Europe and USA conducted interactive activities using NASA and ESA created educational content in high-energy and interactive sessions for teachers in an effort to provide free, dynamic content and extra-curricular activity plug-ins for K-12 classroom lessons and after-school learning.
The sessions for 75 qualified Doha K-12 math, science, ICT educators were sponsored by the Boeing International Corp. and arranged in country by The Youth Company, AYVF's newest alliance partner.
Sessions utilized NASA developed educational interactive team based activities such as MarsBound! Space Shuttle Build, Future Flight Design and SmartSkies/ FlyByMath - NASA's air traffic control simulation for youth. Robotics builds and missions were also, as always, a big hit among teachers.
According to Lisa LaBonte, CEO of the Arab Youth Venture Foundation, "Facilitating STEM education is of prime importance toward career and human talent development to fuel economic growth in the region. We are fortunate that in the GCC region the Boeing leadership has opted to financially support and empower youth and teachers toward enhancing their learning and skills in these key areas that form the basis of knowledge based and diversified economies."
