Abdullah Hakim Quick and Uthman Barry among others to speak on a wide array of Islamic topics

Sharjah: A series of religious lecture programs titled "Soul Food" Religious Lectures, will be featured once again this Ramadan at Qanat Al Qasba (QAQ) following its tremendous success last year. As part of the ongoing Ramadan celebrations, Ramadaniat Al Qasba at QAQ, the Soul Food program will feature some of the most prominent local and international Muslim scholars who will educate visitors on different topics about Islam. Lectures will be held in both English and Arabic languages at Masrah Al Qasba (Al Qasba Theater) starting September 29.

"With Ramadan being a spiritual month, the Soul Food program has been organised with the intention of providing an insight into Islam through some of the best English and Arabic speaking scholars of today," said Marwan Al Sarkal, CEO of Qanat Al Qasba Development Authority. "Through this program we hope to provide not only fellow Muslims, but also people of other faiths the different aspects of Islam which is not just a religion, but also a complete way of life," he added.

The first week of lectures will kick off with an Arabic lecture by Sheikh Abdul-Rahman Al-Sumait titled "Stories from Africa" on September 29. This would be followed by an English Lecture by famous Irish scholar Uthman Barry on September 30 titled "The Spread of Islam: Sword of Intellect or Sword of Steel?"

On October 5, Sheikh Suliman Al Jubilan will deliver an interesting talk on "The Dangerous Four" in Arabic. The second week of the Soul Food series will continue with Sheikh Mohammed Hassan's talk in Arabic on October 6, and Sheikh Saeed Al Zayani's address on "Happiness" on the October 7, also in Arabic.

Canadian scholar Sheikh Abdullah Hakim Quick who has been specially invited for the Soul Food series from South Africa will deliver two interesting lectures during the third week. The first lecture by Sheikh Hakim Quick will be held on October 13 titled "Discover Islam", and the second on the following day on "Reviving Islamic Faith in Ramadan".

The program will wind up on October 20 with the lecture "School of Ramadan" by Sheikh Omar Abdul Kafi. All lectures will start at 9:30pm at the Qanat Al Qasba Theater.

Besides the Soul Food program Ramadaniat Al Qasba will also feature a charity book sale at the Book Boulevard; Zaman Awal, a walk through the past; and a Fun Zone for children. All activities will commence at 8.30pm and will go on till midnight during weekdays and from 8.30pm to 2m on weekends.
