An internationally certified training course organized by leading non-profit organization, Bahrain Property Developers Association (BaPDA) and Tamkeen is creating great interest among property development professionals. The four-day course scheduled to begin on June 6, 2011, is a unique initiative and the first of its kind in Bahrain. It will be conducted by the prestigious Institute for International Research (IIR) Middle East, a part of Informa plc, the leading international provider of specialist information and services for the academic and scientific, professional and commercial business communities. The course will have on its agenda all elements of property development from research and planning to the final stages of development and marketing.
Chairman of the Board of BaPDA Mr. Aaref Hejres said, "The course is intended to create a pool of well qualified and trained professionals in the sector. At the moment, though we have a lot of talent here, there is a dearth of qualified Bahrainis. This course will address that gap, increasing the employability of Bahrainis in property development and real estate. It will be the first step in a program planned with our partner, Tamkeen to create new opportunities to nurture and empower the local workforce. BaPDA and Tamkeen have agreed to work together to conduct workshops and certification courses to improve property development training with higher professional standards. The extremely encouraging response from companies in Bahrain has shown that we have addressed a real need, and this foresees well for our efforts to create a talent pool, as well as for the industry in general."
BaPDA, with support from Tamkeen, has been focused on developing local talent, helping them achieve their potential through appropriate certifications and qualifications. The Institute for International Research (IIR) Middle East has done significant work in the region conducting many courses designed to help the industry.
Background
The Bahrain Property Development Association (BaPDA) is a non-profit organization established in 2010 with the vision of becoming the Kingdom of Bahrain's recognised property development association. It is a representative organisation that will foster infrastructure services, cooperation, fair trade practices and integrity among its members, while providing a platform for members to liaise with the government authorities in forming best practice policies relating to the industry.
At a meeting held to launch the organization and attended by 17 CEOs and senior management officials from major development companies in the Kingdom it was agreed unanimously on the need for such an organization that would serve to bring them together effectively to benefit the industry in Bahrain. A Board of Directors was elected with Mr. Aaref Hejres, CEO of DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ, Chairman of the Board, Dr Hassan Al Bastaki of Manara Development, Vice Chairman, Mr. Maher Al Shaer of GREDCO as the Treasurer and Mr. Tariq Al Jowder of Al Areen as Executive Secretary.
BaPDA has pledged to organize, sponsor, and participate, in regional and international meetings, seminars, conferences, exhibitions, and general networking events to promote the property development industry of Bahrain. It has promised to honor the industry's commitment to the country and participate with all resources available, in the preservation of all aspects of Bahrain's infrastructural, social, cultural and environmental growth.
