PALO ALTO, Calif., April 21, 2007 - ProCurve Networking by HP was named a leader in wireless local area network (WLAN) infrastructure in a report by Forrester Research, a leading analyst firm.

According to the Forrester Wave WLAN infrastructure report,(1) ProCurve is a leader "due to its enterprise-class feature set, newly available wired integration options, and overall superior support."

The report evaluated ProCurve's current offering and strategy for WLAN infrastructure against approximately 54 criteria and concluded, "Overall, the ProCurve WLAN infrastructure brings an enterprise-class feature in competition with larger vendors. However, lower price points and superior service and support will ultimately set ProCurve apart from the competition."

The report also discussed ProCurve's unified management approach - which enables customers to integrate and manage wireless as a seamless extension to the wired network - saying, "Leaders exemplified the Unified Management vision espoused by vendors such as ProCurve Networking by HP."

"We are proud to be recognized as a leader in WLAN infrastructure by Forrester," said Mark Thompson, global director, sales and marketing, ProCurve Networking by HP. "We believe this report reflects ProCurve's wireless product strategy and dedication to delivering complete mobility solutions that fortify security, improve productivity, and reduce the complexity and operational expenses typically associated with wireless networks."

Among ProCurve's current wireless suite of products are the ProCurve Access Point 530 and the ProCurve 5300xl Wireless Edge Services Module with coordinated ProCurve Radio Ports, all of which deliver operational efficiency and consistent functionality and security across all sizes of networks.

These mobility products include built-in support for the complete ProCurve Manager networking management software suite. ProCurve Manager enables network administrators to centrally set and enforce security access control policies and configure devices that deliver a unified wired and wireless experience for an entire network.

ProCurve Mobility Manager is a plug-in module for ProCurve Manager Plus that provides a rich toolset to manage a ProCurve WLAN environment, including rogue device detection and alerts, wireless client association and health visibility, and template-driven device group configuration and management. All of the ProCurve Mobility Manager capabilities are seamlessly integrated into the single PCM+ management console to offer unified management of wired and wireless network resources.
