Porta Egypt and Rotopack Misr, leading companies in the field of packaging & packing materials manufacturing and part of Altea Packaging Group, were recently accredited with BRC/IoP, British Retail Consortium (BRC) Institute of Packaging (IoP), Global Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials.
The BRC/IoP Certification is internationally recognized by the European food chain as one of the best testimonies of high and consistent standards by those certified. The BRC/IoP Packaging Standard objective is to help in the protection of the consumer by providing common basics for the evaluation of companies supplying packaging for food product to retailers.
This certification highlights Porta and Rotopack's dedication to quality says Haytham Awed, Quality assurance Manager. "This is accomplished by conforming to customers' needs and continuously improving the quality management system in order to achieve the company's objectives. Porta and Rotopack have already complied with other requirements of international standards of the utmost importance such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001" he adds.
As for Mohamed Ibrahim, Chief Operations Officer of Porta and Rotopack, the BRC/IoP certification confirms that Porta and Rotopack Misr both conform to best practices to enable the production of safe packaging. This is the result of significant ground work at the production level which has demanded specific investments to be made and continuous education and training at various levels in the organization. "Such a certification requires a positive state of mind and a lot of dedication which we were able to get from all employees" he says.
According to Slim Zeghal, CEO of Porta & Rotopack and of the Altea Packaging Group, this certification confirms the positioning that the Group is looking for in the region. There is no compromise on quality nor on consumers health and Altea Packaging wants to be the reliable packaging partner of all operators that build their brand for the long term on strong fundamentals. "The fact that the Group is conforming to the most stringent European standards actually shows in the export figures that we have, and we will serve the MENA region with the same products that we provide to this huge neighbouring market across the Mediterranean sea" he adds.
