Abu Dhabi - Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi has signed an MoU with the National School of Civil Aviation (ENAC), one of the leading aeronautical and aviation universities in Europe, to develop a joint Science Master programme in International Air Transport Operations Management (IATOM) in Sorbonne Abu Dhabi in October 2017. Professor Eric Fouache, Vice Chancellor at Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi and Mr. Marc Houalla, Director of ENAC in Toulouse, France signed the agreement during “Le Salon International de l'Aéronautique et de l'Espace” at Paris–Le Bourget Airport. HE Ludovic Pouille, French Ambassador to the UAE in Abu Dhabi and Professor Barthélémy Jobert, President of Paris Sorbonne University attended the signing ceremony.
This MoU aims to deliver the best of French education by launching a joint master programme between Sorbonne Abu Dhabi and ENAC in Abu Dhabi that will support the Science department at Sorbonne Abu Dhabi. It will also offer students excellent education, which will help them find new job opportunities in the UAE, GCC and the Middle East. This programme is expected to attract students from across the region and around the world.
Professor Eric Fouache, Vice Chancellor at Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi said: “The MoU we have signed with ENAC is an important step in our journey in the UAE as our joint Master of Science in International Air Transport Operations Management (IATOM) programme will serve to further enhance ties between the UAE and France. It will also give our students a great opportunity to expand their knowledge in this field”.
Professor Fouache added: “We are committed to providing world class education to our students and through establishing partnerships with leading institutions; we will definitely support our goals. We are therefore very optimistic about our cooperation with ENAC”.
Mr. Marc Houalla, Director of ENAC, said: “UAE serves as an important hub to facilitate anticipated global air traffic growth over the next few decades. This joint programme is designed to fulfil future demand for aviation related skill-sets and knowledge not only in the UAE, GCC and Middle East, but also the neighbouring regions, including Africa, India and South East Asia. ENAC’s partnership with Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi in the UAE and unprecedented presence in the region signal France’s commitment to the aviation community in the region.”
The Master of Science in International Air Transport Operations Management (IATOM) programme is a two-year curriculum taught in English and students will be moving to Toulouse once they finish the first semester at Sorbonne Abu Dhabi where they will continue their studies in their relevant fields. This programme aims at providing the technical and managerial expertise necessary for future managers in an international company. It also provides graduates with in-depth knowledge of aeronautical engineering, aeronautical project management and technology management.
