SAN JOSE, California - NPTest, Inc. the wholly owned subsidiary of Schlumberger Limited formerly known as Schlumberger Semiconductor Solutions, introduced today powerful options for the EXA3000, its advanced system-on-chip (SOC) test system. The new offering provides an integrated test solution for outstanding signal integrity, jitter and critical timing analysis that is especially important in testing datacom and graphics devices, as well as high-speed interfaces. The integrated solution enhances functionality in a single test platform that is compatible across both characterization and production stages for high throughput at lower cost.
NPTest is teaming with Wavecrest to integrate the SIA-3000 timing interval analyzer (TIA) into the EXA3000 as a high performance option, providing the user with a seamless hardware and software interface that optimizes the signal integrity to the device under test (DUT). This option enables comprehensive jitter analysis that complies with the jitter generation, output and transfer tests required by the Telecom/ Datacom industry standards. Signal integrity is critically important in multiple applications including Infiniband, Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, XAUI, SONET, and Bit Error Rate (BER) processing. It also provides accurate timing measurements for high-speed data rate up to 4.5Gb/s.
"Companies developing datacom, chipset and graphic chips, and high-speed interfaces need test solutions that meet the most demanding jitter measurement analysis and timing requirements," stated Colin Ritchie, marketing director, NPTest. "We believe that the EXA3000 continues to be the most flexible, scalable test platform for these devices, and the addition of the Wavecrest SIA3000 instruments offers a fully integrated test solution that will speed customer production time, lowering the cost of test and reducing time to market."
"The SIA-3000 provides the user with the functionality of a sampling oscilloscope, BERT, time interval analyzer and spectrum analyzer with patented jitter measurement tools these traditional instruments don't offer," stated Dennis Leisz, president & CEO, Wavecrest. "The combination of the NPTest EXA3000 and the SIA-3000 offers an integrated test solution which meets many industry standards and correlates to the bench -- a truly powerful advantage."
The SIA-3000
The Wavecrest SIA-3000, the reference standard for signal integrity analysis, is an all-in-one test and measurement instrument with high bandwidth and versatile 10 parallel channel support. It measures data rates up to 4.5 Gb/s with 200 femtosecond resolution. Patented algorithms in the VISI software enable RJ/DJ separation for design, debug, characterization, final and compliance testing. Demonstrations of the Wavecrest SIA-3000 analyzer are available at SEMICON West, in San Jose, July 17-19, in Booth # 12128.
The EXA3000
The EXA3000 SOC semiconductor test system leads the industry in speed and accuracy, providing +/-50ps edge-placement accuracy, up to 3.2Gb/s data rates, true differential pin electronics, an integrated source synchronous timing solution, configuration flexibility and a 120dB analog noise floor that results in the highest device output and yields on the most demanding devices. With full configuration flexibility on both digital and analog test resources, the EXA3000 system is designed to test a wide range of SOC, next generation digital bus interfaces -- HyperTransport, InfiniBand, RapidIO, DDR and high-speed datacom. Its easy-to-configure architecture and over 100 mixed-signal test options make it an ideal candidate for test houses and contract manufacturers.
